We spent some quiet time at Desert Christ Park in Yucca Valley today — a peaceful spot overlooking the desert, dotted with more than forty snow-white sculptures depicting scenes from the life of Christ. The park was created in the 1950s by Antone Martin, a former aircraft worker who hoped his concrete figures would inspire peace during the Cold War. Standing among them — especially the 15-foot statue of Jesus that watches over the valley — you can’t help but feel a sense of calm and reflection.
